Sunday Series | Amin Hamzianpour, Founder, Qube

We caught up with Amin Hamzianpour, co-founder of the World’s first members studio for musicians, podcasters and content creators, to find out what Sunday means to him. Founded on the notion that the artistic journey can be lonely, daunting and relentless, Qube is centred around curating design and community-led spaces for artists. They now have more than 60 purpose-built studios in London.

TELL US ABOUT QUBE?
Qube is the first member's club for musicians, podcasters and content creators in the World. We launched in 2020 and at the moment we have three sites in Acton, Canary Wharf and Hackney, with more in the pipeline.

WHAT DOES SUNDAY MEAN TO YOU?
Sundays are about spending as much time as I can with my wife and my kid, Caspian. We’re so busy during the week so I really cherish that time together. I’d like to say it’s a day of rest too but I think just the nature of running a business means it’s a day of planning.. I guess there’s a lot going with my mind, playing out the week ahead and what needs to be done. So it’s really a family day and a planning day.

WHAT DOES YOUR PERFECT SUNDAY LOOK LIKE?
I’m getting really into cooking at the moment, so cooking in the morning, making a really nice brunch and also cooking for Caspian (my son) is really nice - he's obsessed with food, which is so fulfilling. We always go for a walk and just try to be out of the house for as long as possible and walking as far as we possibly can, which is such a good way to clear your thoughts. I also find it really hard to work out in the week, so I’ll often try to take an hour to get to the gym and use the steam and sauna.

FAVOURITE SUNDAY SPOT?
I like Carmel in Queens Park. It’s got this really nice neighbourhood vibe and you can just walk in there for brunch. There’s loads of people in their 30s and with families there and they do this egg in a jar thing which is honestly the best thing I’ve ever eaten. So beautiful.

GO TO SUNDAY COCKTAIL?
It depends. If we were at brunch with friends, I might have a Margarita because my wife loves them. I mean, if you see someone drinking a Margarita in a glass with a salted rim, you’ve just got to have one. But I probably wouldn’t do that if I was alone.

FAVOURITE SUNDAY MUSIC?
It’s a really hard question to answer as a musician... We play music all round the house, mainly because I want to get Caspian into all different genres (although I’m never sure if that stuff works or not). I’ll play everything from progressive house and tech house through to this guy I really like at the moment called Ben Boomer, who makes this beautiful dance music that makes you cry. We’re also listening to a lot of Motown and old classics which feels really wholesome.
